Finding what works for you

So not been back from the gym long and i sat and thought about scribbling down in my notebook about what i do in the gym and how my progress is going etc. Then i came up with the genius idea of sharing with you guys instead...hope you find it useful.

So for me my overall goal is to gain definition, i don't want to be huge and i don't want to look like an extra from Baywatch, i want to look in the mirror and be proud of what i see physique wise. The main reason for not wanting to be too huge or anything like that...maintenance! It takes a lot of time, handwork, and dedication to get the ultimate physique and right now I'm putting a lot of time and effort into my business, which means some days i slip. So yeah, so long as i can look in the mirror and be satisfied and happy with what looks back at me, thats my goal.

Ive spent the last, probably 3 weeks now, this will be my 4th week on a bit of a set programme at the gym. I start 6 days out of 7 by doing an hours walking at a pace of 7km per hour. This is just fast enough that it gets your body into a fat burning state but not to fast that you begin to decrease muscle mass. This was a little tip i learnt from a PT out in LA, and so far, its working well. That hour in a morning gives you time to get your head right!

On the days i can i then head back to the gym around mid afternoon, and this is usually for a weight/resistance session. This is the usual biceps & triceps type day, or back and shoulders, you know the drill. What i do on these days is pick 6 routines that target that area. I start with a warm up set for each exercise and the warm up sets are high reps with light weights. I do just one set off these literally to wake that part of the body up. Then i move to my heavier weight. Around about 85% of my one rep maximum. Here i will do 5 sets of 8 reps for most exercises.

I feel my training is going pretty well and I've added almost 10kilos to what i was originally chest pressing which I'm happy with, no longer lifting the tiny weights haha. I can feel my overall strength improving and increasing too which is great.

Yesterday i went and bought some "pre workout". Ive heard lots about it and thought id give it a go, the first time id ever had it was actually when i was hungover at a work trip down in Brighton...it did the trick!! So yeah i bought Optimum Nutrition Pre. This morning was the first time id taken it...wow!! It sends you crazy haha, you feel hotter, you feel more awake and you feel tingly!! I felt i could lift anything. On the whole, good little addition to my nutrition cupboard. Also in there for anyone thats interested, Juice Plus Complete, Cod Liver Oil, Juice Plus Premium Capsules, and almond butter!! These are things I've always got to have in! I don't like to take too many things because again, its not sustainable for me personally.

So yeah thats a little of where I'm up to and what I'm up to, hope it helped pass 5minutes on your wet bank holiday. If you want to take a look at the products i take I've posted the Pre just above, and this website will help you out for the Juice Plus products http://www.juiceplus.co.uk/+pb31546
